Introduction to Bisha Mining Share Company

BMSC is an Eritrean company formed for the development and operation of the Bisha Mine in western Eritrea, Africa. The Bisha Mine is a high-grade copper, gold, silver and zinc mine that commenced production in February 2011. The Bisha Mine has received continuous support from the Eritrean government, who granted the Company’s mining license in January 2008. The project is the first modern mine in Eritrea.   

After two years of low cost gold production, the Bisha Mine transitioned to low-cost, high-grade copper production in 2013.  Starting in 2016, Bisha also produces zinc concentrate. Further resource potential exists at depth and from nearby discoveries within the Company’s licensed areas.

The site is a well-established site with excellent catering and recreational facilities. The site also offers Wi-Fi internet coverage throughout the village as well international TV and a full gymnasium. Security ranks with best in the world and employees mountain bike freely.  Expatriates work a roster of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off; we offer on-site medical services as well as company medical, accident death and disability and life insurance (employee only); Employees are provided with private rooms with en-suite toilet and shower facilities; Working hours at Bisha are Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm with a one hour lunch break and Sundays from 6am to 12pm with the afternoon off.

The successful candidate will earn a salary which is market related. Contract is for a period of 02 (two) Years.

Primary Purpose

  • Plan, Schedule and conduct HME Artisans’ formal (Instructor Led) Training, On-the-job coaching and final competency assessments.
  • Develop, review and update training and assessment packages.
  • Generate and maintain valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic training and assessment evidence.
  • The coverage of the training area includes: HME Mechanics, HME Auto-electricians, Drill Rig mechanics and UG mechanics.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Theoretical and Practical Training and Assessment using company approved Training Packages, Standards and Methodologies.
  • Produce safe and efficient Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics that meets the industry Best Practices and Standards.

TASK DESCRIPTION EXPANDED TO CORE PERFORMANCE AREAS

Training and assessment planning and Scheduling

  • Actively participate in development of Annual training plans and review periodically to set forecasts
  • Notify and remind HME line management, supervisors and Trainees ahead on scheduled training and assessments
  • Attend toolbox meeting and resolve any training related issues or report to direct supervisor.
  • Ensure that all the necessary instruments, devices, tools, and materials are ready in advance for training

Conduct Actual Training, Coaching, Mentoring and Competency Assessment

  • Conduct theoretical & Practical training for all levels of HME Artisan training; ensuring BMSC Safety and Health standards are followed.
  • Conduct Skill Competency Assessment and generate valid, reliable, sufficient, current and authentic evidence for all levels of training
  • Conduct On-the-Job coaching and mentoring for Artisans in training. Following standard working procedure.
  • Ensure safety and health standards are followed during all types of training.
  • Train, Coach and Mentor HME national Trainers. Develop and periodically review the trainers’ ’Personal Development Plans (PDPs).

Develop and update training packages and competency assessment materials

  • Develop, review and update training packages and competency assessment materials for all machines available on site (Caterpillar, SRT, Shantui, MT, SRT and Shacman brands)
  • Ensure and take initiative to develop training packages and competency assessments whenever a new equipment is added t to the fleet

Coordinate, follow up and monitor the on-the-job training conducted by the workplace coaches and mentors

  • Ensure the Trainees’ logbooks are always accurate and updated.
  • Regular review and verify trainees’ logbooks for accuracy, completeness, relevance, and validity
  • Set competency assessment schedule for skill sets indicated as complete in the trainees’ logbooks and communicate with the relevant workshop management personnel.
  • Ensure all trainees are paired with their respective coaches or mentors

Conduct training Impact and Effectiveness evaluation

  • Constantly evaluate training & assessment process and maintain high standards
  • Closely monitor and follow up trainee performance on the workshop  
  • Evaluate the actual courses and contents and recommend for improvements
  • Promote HME employee’s safety and maintenance performance through visible leadership and continues follow up and supports.

Reporting & Keep training records

  • Prepare and Compile, daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Record and maintain accurate and timely HME training matrix.
  • Prepare skill Competencies Assessments reports.  

UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS / OTHER INFORMATION

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Understanding of adult education system
  • Highly experienced on Machines Diagnostic Software and data analysis.
  • Experience in maintenance of Caterpillar, Shantui, Shacman, Sany, HOWO and Sino trucks, and UG equipment.
  • The candidate must be Physically and Medically fit.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Auto mechanic or related fields
  • Certificate in Training and Assessment

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years HME Maintenance experience
  • 3 – 5 years Training experiences
  • Knowledge and experience on Caterpillar, SRT, Shantui, MT, SRT and Shacman brand equipment
